How to Turn a PowerPoint Into a Video in Pictory 3

Turn a slide deck into a narrated video. You choose whether to keep your slides exactly as they are or let the agent build new scenes from the content.

Which PowerPoint files can you use?

Upload a PPTX file. If you have an older PPT file, convert it to PPTX first. Pictory 3 detects the slides and any speaker notes, then asks how you want to use them.

Step by step: turn a PowerPoint into a video

1

Step 1: Upload a PPTX

Add your PPTX file in the agent input.

3

Step 3: Choose how to narrate

4

Step 4: Choose how to use the slides

Select Keep my slides as the scenes, or Build a new video from the content.

5

Step 5: Complete the setup

Answer the remaining setup questions, review the narration slide by slide, and generate the preview.

6

Step 6: Refine and generate

Ask the agent for changes or open the editor, then select Generate video.

Should you keep your slides or build a new video?

Keep your slides as the scenes to retain their design and order. The slides supply the visuals, so the visual-source and aspect-ratio questions are skipped. Build a new video when you want the deck used as source material for new scenes, visuals, and branding.

With kept slides, check slide edges and animation playback. Embedded slide audio and video aren't imported as narration or reusable media. In a kept-slide project, edit narration per scene, and use the new-video path for a complete script rewrite.

How do speaker notes work?

When you choose notes, slides with notes use them word for word. Narration is generated for slides without notes. Pictory treats a PDF of your slides as document content, so speaker notes aren't imported from it. Upload the PPTX if you want to use them.

Tips for PowerPoint videos

  • Write notes you're happy to hear spoken. They are used word for word.
  • Check slide edges and animation playback in the preview.
  • Use the new-video path for a full rewrite. Rebuilding uses the deck as source material for new scenes, visuals, and branding.
  • Pair it with a brand kit when you build a new video. See Use brand kits and layout presets in Pictory 3.

Frequently asked questions

Which PowerPoint format does Pictory 3 accept?

Pictory 3 accepts PPTX files. If you have an older PPT file, convert it to PPTX first. After upload, Pictory 3 detects the slides and speaker-note information, and you review them before choosing how to narrate and whether to keep the slides as scenes.

Will my speaker notes be used as narration?

If you choose notes as narration, slides with notes use them word for word. Narration is generated for slides without notes. You can also ask for narration written from slide content instead. Speaker notes aren't imported from a PDF of your slides.

What is the difference between keeping slides and building a new video?

Keeping slides retains their design and order, and the slides supply the visuals. Building a new video uses the deck as source material for new Pictory scenes, visuals, and branding. Choose the new-video path if you want a complete script rewrite.

Are slide animations and embedded media imported?

Check animation playback in the preview when you keep slides. Embedded slide audio and video aren't imported as narration or reusable media. If you need that media in the video, add it separately as an upload and place it in the right scene in the editor.

Why were some questions skipped during setup?

If you keep your slides as the scenes, the slides supply the visuals, so the usual visual-source and aspect-ratio questions are skipped. The other setup choices, such as voiceover, layout preset, and brand kit, still apply where Pictory offers them.
