PICTORY FEATURES
PDF to Video: Convert PDFs and Presentations into Videos with AI
A PDF report gets attached to an email and never opened. A presentation deck gets skimmed on a screen and forgotten. Pictory turns that content into video. Upload your slides, paste in the text, or feed in a URL, and Pictory builds a structured video with scenes, captions, visuals, voiceover, and brand styling — all inside one editor, without a timeline or additional tools.

Pictory does not have a single-click PDF upload button, but it handles the same workflow through two routes that cover every format your document content might take. If your PDF comes from a PowerPoint presentation, the PPT to Video workflow accepts .ppt and .pptx files directly — up to 90 slides or 50 MB — and converts each slide into an editable video scene. If your PDF is a blog post, a report, a web page, or written content, the URL to Video and Text to Video workflows handle that directly. You paste the URL or the text, and Pictory extracts it, builds a script, generates a storyboard, matches visuals to each scene, and opens the whole thing in the video editor.

PDFs get ignored. Video gets watched. Training documents converted to video retain attention longer and work across devices without requiring a download. Presentation decks converted to video can be shared as links, embedded on pages, and published to YouTube or LinkedIn without requiring a live presenter. Marketing and sales teams convert product one-pagers and case study PDFs into short video summaries for outreach and proposals. HR teams turn policy documents and onboarding guides into watchable lessons. The content already exists in written form — Pictory removes the production barrier between that content and a finished video.
Core Tools inside the PDF to Video Editor
Every video created through Pictory's document conversion workflows opens in the same full editor. These are the tools available inside it.

PPT to Video Upload
Upload a .ppt or .pptx file directly. Pictory converts each slide into a video scene, optionally using speaker notes as narration. Supports up to 90 slides or 50 MB per file.

Text to Video
Paste any written content directly into the script editor. Pictory structures it into scenes, applies captions and visuals, and opens the video in the editor ready to refine.

Audio Tab
Choose from a library of AI voiceovers in multiple languages and accents, add background music, or upload your own recorded narration to match the document content.

URL to Video
Paste a public URL for any webpage, blog post, or online document. Pictory extracts the content, generates a script, and builds a storyboard with AI-matched visuals and captions.

Branding Tab
Apply a brand kit to set your logo, fonts, and color palette across every scene at once. Shuffle color combinations within the kit to test alternate pairings while keeping branding consistent.

Visuals and AI Studio
Replace any AI-selected stock visual by searching the library, uploading your own media, or generating custom imagery using AI Studio with a text prompt.
Each of these features ensures your idea evolves into a professional video workflow that aligns with your goals and platform strategy.
Select PPT to Video from the Pictory home screen. Upload your .ppt or .pptx file by dragging and dropping it, browsing your computer, or trying with a demo file. If your slides include speaker notes you want used as narration, toggle that option on before proceeding. Click Generate Video. Pictory converts each slide into a scene and builds the storyboard. A loading screen tracks progress. Once complete, the editor opens with slide text divided into editable scenes in the left panel, scene previews on the right, and slide thumbnails along the bottom timeline.

Edit or rewrite scene text in the Story tab. Replace AI-selected visuals in the Visuals tab with your own uploads or AI Studio-generated imagery. Adjust pacing, trim scenes, or reorder using the timeline thumbnails. Apply your brand kit in the Branding tab to set logo, fonts, and colors across the entire video in one click. Add on-screen text overlays with animation effects — Fade, Typewriter, Wipe, Elastic — using the Text tab. Scene thumbnails support right-click actions: Duplicate, Copy, Paste after, Link with next, and Delete. Timeline zoom control is available for detailed navigation.
Step 1
Open Doc To Video Feature and upload your document
Select Doc to Video from the Pictory home screen. Drag your PDF onto the screen or click browse to find the file and select Upload. On the next screen describe the type of video you want to create, select your platform and length.

Step 2
Configure the script and scene settings
In the script editor, choose how scenes divide — by sentence or line break — set keyword highlights, max lines per scene, aspect ratio (16:9, 9:16, or 1:1), and estimated duration. Select your brand kit. Use the Ask AI tools (Optimize, Rephrase, Shorten, Lengthen, Change Tone) to tighten any section before generating the video.
Step 3
Choose a layout theme and generate the storyboard
Click Generate Video. Select a layout theme — options include Modern Minimalist, Kinetic, Chic, Wanderlust, and Bulletin. Each theme applies coordinated fonts, colors, and layouts across every scene. Pictory processes the content into a scene-based storyboard with AI-matched visuals and a progress bar tracks completion.

Step 4
Edit, preview, and export the finished video
The full editor opens with scenes in the left panel and a live preview on the right. Swap visuals, adjust the voiceover, add music, apply your brand kit, and add animated text overlays. Click Preview Video to review the result, then Download Video to export. A share preview link lets you collect approval before final download. The project saves automatically under My Projects.
Pictory supports multiple languages for captions and AI voiceover, making it practical for teams converting PDFs and documents for international audiences. Select the target language in the Audio tab when choosing your AI voice, and captions sync automatically to the narration language. This is useful for global training programs, multilingual marketing, and regional onboarding content.

Videos export in widescreen (16:9), square (1:1), and vertical (9:16) formats. This makes PDF to video output suitable for YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, email campaigns, websites, onboarding portals, LMS platforms, and internal knowledge bases. Pictory integrates with Make and Zapier for workflow automation, and the Chrome extension supports repurposing from browser-based documents and web pages.

FAQ: PDF to Video with Pictory
Can I upload a PDF directly into Pictory?
Pictory does not have a direct PDF upload button, but covers the same use cases through other workflows. If your PDF came from a PowerPoint, upload the original .ppt or .pptx file using PPT to Video. If your PDF is a written document or report, copy the text and use Text to Video, or paste the URL of the online version into URL to Video.
How does PPT to Video handle my presentation slides?
Each slide in your uploaded .ppt or .pptx file becomes a separate video scene. Pictory converts the slide layout and text into an editable scene with AI-matched stock visuals. Speaker notes can optionally be used as narration text. You can edit, reorder, or delete any scene in the editor after conversion.
What is the maximum file size for PPT to Video?
Pictory's PPT to Video workflow accepts files up to 90 slides or 50 MB. Files can be uploaded by dragging and dropping, browsing your computer, or testing with a demo file provided in the interface.
Can I add my branding to a PDF or presentation converted to video?
Yes. Brand kits in Pictory store your logo, fonts, and color palette. Apply a brand kit in the Branding tab and it updates every scene in the video at once. You can also shuffle color combinations within a kit to test alternate pairings while keeping the overall brand consistent.
Can I use PDF to video for training and onboarding content?
Yes. Training documents, compliance PDFs, onboarding guides, and procedure manuals all work through the Text to Video or URL to Video workflows. Presentation-based training materials upload directly as PPT files. The resulting videos can be exported for LMS platforms, onboarding portals, and internal knowledge bases.
What export formats are available for PDF to video output?
Videos export in 16:9 for YouTube and standard video, 9:16 for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts, and 1:1 for square formats used on LinkedIn and Facebook. You set the aspect ratio before generating the video.
